This year I decorated my home by thrifting vintage secondhand items. I hope it brings you joy and it gives your some inspiration for your home! If you want to see a full home tour of my holiday decor be sure to check out my YouTube video “Thriftmas: Deck the Halls with Vintage Christmas | Vintage Haul and Thrifted Holiday Home Decor Tour.”
I have never seasonally decorated before as an adult. I have always been a rolling stone and lived in apartments so it always seemed like a waste of storage space and something I absolutely didn’t want to move from place to place. But with 2020 being what it is I have decided to surround myself with joy and I thrifted the vintage Christmas of my dreams!
I was inspired by vintage resellers and antique dealers and how they display their items. They use tiers to make multiple levels and show more items so I emulated that with my displays. This is the area I film in front of mainly on YouTube and you can see some fun little closeups of how that all turned out!
There is even some holiday joy on my wicker shelf with my antique book collection.
The next area I really focused on height was on top of a small Mid Century cabinet I have. This is the only tree I have since I live in a small apartment but next year maybe I will go all out and get a tinsel tree for the fun of it!
The little Santa Rolly Polly from this display is one of my most favorite items. It just makes me smile and when it jingles I can’t help but laugh.
You might recognize the wreath from one of my YouTube videos! Be sure to check that out along with these closeup photos to see how this secondhand diy project turned out.
The spot I spend the most time at currently is my desk as I now work from home. I was sure to make sure while I was there I had lots of holiday fun to look at. I was inspired by the holiday brooch trees and made my own version on the office peg board. I also put up a ton of vintage holiday cards. I love them so much and I just love looking at them while I work!
Also, please note where my kitties lay and how they are so good around my decorations. In fact you can tell by Lily’s expression that she is sick of me taking pictures because she is a good girl and not bothering the Christmas decorations!
I made sure there were there were little pops of holiday joy throughout the apartment. Little touches are everywhere, from my kitchen to the bathroom I made sure there were pops of joy everywhere.
Some of the touches of holiday include assemblages I made! If you want to see more of how those were made be sure to check out my YouTube video and CLICK HERE to see my blog post with more closeup images of these holiday assemblages.
And speaking of pops of joy, I made sure that every door had them! I made two more wreaths and you can see more on my YouTube about how I put them together.
I especially love how my front door turned out. I have two stockings, one for each of my kitties all loaded with new toys and treats. And be sure to check out my thrifting video where I went on the hunt for the perfect holiday decor for that door.
I hope this post gave you some inspiration of how you can decorate your home with secondhand items. Around here the most popular purchase is for sure the vintage rubber face Santa. He is so soft! Like so soft! He is the softest stuffed toy I have ever owned and well my kitties fight over him and Little Miss has started a full-blown romance with him. So I think he is going to be out all year round!
Have a happy holiday everyone! Stay safe and healthy and I am sending love your way!
