One year later... We still need to do better. In the past year I have learned more about women's issues than I ever thought I would. The experience has been overwhelming and it has made me extremely aware of the lack of diverse representation women have outside of traditional roles in all aspects of our culture. I only wish I could open more eyes to these issues the way mine have been. So, on the one year anniversary of my Girls' Life Cover I am uplifting some amazing women. I am showing women I needed to see growing up. I have been lucky enough to have them as examples in my life but I wish I had been aware of women like them earlier. My hope is that we can do better for the next generation by showing more women. This is my list of women I needed to see growing up. Who did you need to see?

Every time a woman steps up and breaks a stereotype, shatters a glass ceiling, or persists despite opposition, she is not only empowering herself but she is an example to other women of what can be done. The next woman to travel that path will have a beacon of light to follow. Taking a stand for what you believe in makes it less scary for the next woman to take a stand. This chain reaction of impact is why I encourage all women to stand up and lift up the accomplishments of other women. Live the life you want, take the road less travelled, and pave the way for the next woman.
